Nellie Osment

Nellie Mae Edwards Osment, 73, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, at her home. Born April 9, 1941, in Inman, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frances Ard Edwards Johnson and William Paul Edwards, Sr., and widow of Samuel Earl Osment. She was raised by her late grandparents, Claude and Carrie Mae Edwards of Spartanburg. Nellie was a retired nurse and a woman of faith. Surviving are her children, Cheryl Fowler of the home, Darrell Fowler of Boiling Springs, SC, Phillip Fowler Sr. (Angie) of Campobello SC, and Michelle Osment Kennedy of Fayetteville, NC; a brother, Gregory Edwards Sr. (Tanya) of Hickory, NC; a sister, Teresa Sawyer of Spartanburg, SC; stepmother, Ruby Edwards of Spartanburg, SC; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loyal Shih Tzu, Chad; and brothers, Michael Edwards, William Edwards, Jr., and Kelley Johnson. A graveside service celebrating her life will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 10, 2015, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Traci Bennett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Miami, FL 33134; or Piedmont Hospice, 209-A Riverside Ct., Greer, SC 29650.
