Nell Bishop Duncan, 81, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012, after several weeks of declining health. Born August 8, 1931, in Spartanburg, she was the widow of J. T. Duncan and the daughter of the late Otis S. Bishop and Lee Ola Lowe Bishop. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Duncan was a member of Dependent Baptist Church in Inman, SC. Surviving are three daughters, S. Elaine Duncan-Goodwin, Charlotte Duncan Hyder and Judy Duncan Poteat; two grandchildren, Michael A. Poteat (Wendy) and Katie M. Hyder (Josh Willingham); one great-grandchild, Chandler M. Poteat; sister-in-laws, Esther Rollins Bishop, Mary Morrison Bishop, and Ruby Duncan Brown; one brother-in-law, Raymond N. Duncan, and special family friends, Mildred A. Masters and Frank High. She was predeceased by brothers, Rev. Joseph W. Bishop, Reece C. Bishop, and Clyde W. Bishop; and a sister, Glady Bishop Stepp. The family will receive friends 2:00-2:45 PM Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Dependent Baptist Church, 791 Windmill Hill Road, Inman, SC. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Joe Geddes and the Rev. Tim Hackett. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum.
