Nelda Elizabeth Alverson Shropshier Cook, 77, of Spartanburg, SC died Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Born November 6, 1943 in Gramling, SC, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lila Cantrell Alverson and was first married to the late Larry J. Shropshier.
Mrs. Cook was a graduate of Chapman High School and Piedmont Beauty College and was a retired hairdresser. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Phillip L. Cook, her sons, Joel A. Shropshier (Connie) and Fred D. Shropshier, all of Woodruff, SC, her stepchildren, Amy Cook and Russel Cook, both of Greenville, SC, and Jamie Cook of Kansas, three grandchildren, Tara Shropshier Rice, Katelin Shropshier, and Grant Shropshier, three great grandchildren, Briggs Rice, Billa Gray Rice, and Baylor Rice, and her sisters, Marian Bagwell, Jane Alexander, and Bonnie Lewis, all of Spartanburg, SC. She was also predeceased by siblings, Larry Alverson, Sr., Faye Holcomb, and Keith Alverson.
A visitation will be 12:30 – 1:30 PM Friday, October 22, 2021 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Ralph Jett. A private burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
