Nelda Holloway Ballard, 75, of Boiling Springs, died Monday, October 8, 2012 at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Born September 1, 1937, in Spartanburg, she was the widow of Franklin D. Ballard, Sr. and daughter of the late William Wesley Holloway, Jr. and Mary Matilda Cooper Holloway. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Ballard was retired from Community Cash in Boiling Springs and a member of First Baptist Church of Valley Falls where she was very active. Surviving are her children, Franklin D. Ballard, Jr. and wife Linda of Boiling Springs, SC, Nancy Hopper and husband Douglas of Rutherfordton, NC, and Lisa Lawson and husband David of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Melissa Watson and husband Matt, Matthew Ballard, and Elsie Ballard, all of Boiling Springs, SC, Emily Toms and husband Jared of Harris, NC, Jason Hopper of Rutherfordton, NC, Hunter Lawson and wife Ashley, Stacey Lawson, and Caleb Lawson, all of Boiling Springs, SC; great-granddaughter, Leah Watson; great-grandson, Maddox Lawson, arriving in February; and former daughter-in-law, Rita Ballard of Boiling Springs, SC. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. John C. Lancaster. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
