Ned L. Hammond, 81, of Spartanburg, died Monday, September 13, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born July 1, 1929 in Chester County, SC, he was the son of the late A. E. and Faustine Estridge Hammond and the husband of the late Betty Walden Hammond. A teacher at Spartanburg High School and Daniel Morgan Vocational School, he retired in 1991 after 31 years of service and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church Survivors include two sons, Tim Hammond and wife Marilyn and Joe Hammond; a brother, Tom Hammond; a granddaughter, Melissa Suddeth and husband Paul; a grandson, Michael Hammond and wife Camille; and two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Jenna Suddeth. He was predeceased by three brothers, Butch, Ace, and Bob Hammond. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Morningside Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. A committal service will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum.
