Natalie Dale Walker Watters, 89, a native of Spartanburg, SC, died June 14, 2016 in Shelburne, VT, where she has resided since July of 2015. She was a lifelong member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent in Spartanburg and an active volunteer in her church and community. She was a member of The Assembly, The Junior League of Spartanburg, The Thursday Study Club, The Mayflower Descendants in the State of South Carolina and The National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the State of South Carolina. She served on the boards of the Georgia Cleveland Home and Mountainview Nursing Home. Mrs. Watters was a 1948 graduate of Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Mrs. Watters is survived by four children: A. Adair Watters, III (Holly) of Spartanburg, Ellen Watters Wilkins (Tom) of South Burlington, VT, Florence Watters Godfrey (Richard) of Greenville, SC and David Tutherly Watters (Charlotte) of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Adair Watters, Jr., by her parents, Florence Dale Walker and Archibald Wilson Walker, and by her brother, David Tutherly Walker. The family would like to thank staff members and health care providers at the Summit Hills Retirement Community in Spartanburg and at The Residence at Shelburne Bay in Shelburne, VT for the loving care and assistance they provided to Mrs. Watters. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Advent, by the Reverend Stephen Y. McGehee and the Reverend Deborah D. Apoldo. A reception will follow in the Parish and Community Life Center. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to The Advent Foundation, c/o The Episcopal Church of the Advent, 141 Advent Street, Spartanburg, SC, 29302.
