Naomi Horton

Naomi Hodge Belue Horton, 89, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Wesley Court Assisted Living-Boiling Springs, SC. Born June 1, 1924, in Rockingham, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charles Dewitt and Ludell Chastain Hodge of Startex. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and an avid reader who also loved gardening. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and the Pastors Sunday School Class. Surviving are one son, Joey E. Belue (fiancé, Rhonda Brown), and four daughters, Gloria Sill (Rodney), Ann Crocker (Randy), Phyllis Parker (Wayne), all of Boiling Springs, SC, and Connie McCallister (Allen) of Spartanburg; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Margaret Neville of Reva, VA, Yvonne Cockrell of Culpepper, VA, Judy Belue of Campobello, SC, Jackie Pruitt of Spartanburg, SC, and Barbara Padgett of Duncan, SC. She was predeceased by her first husband, George Elbert Belue; second husband, James Pierce Horton, Sr.; a son, Kenneth Wayne Belue; and three sisters, Louise Bryant, Elizabeth Pruitt, and Doris Garett. The family will receive friends 12:30-1:45 PM Thursday, February 27, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg-Davis Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Hwy 176, Landrum, SC 29356.
