Naomi Scott Fain, 91, of Spartanburg, SC died Thursday, August 4, 2022. Born August 25, 1930 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph Clifford Scott, Sr. and Naomi Blanche Goodyear Scott and wife of the late Guy Franklin Fain, Jr. They were happily married from for 66 years, 1949 to 2015.
Naomi was retired from Triplett’s Furniture Store in Lenoir, NC. A member of Morningside Baptist Church, she participated in the WMU Bible Study and was a co-teacher of the Lydia Senior Class. She was also a member of the Cema Chreitzberg Garden Club and a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Spartanburg Junior College, now Spartanburg Methodist College.
Naomi was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed sharing what she grew with her family and friends. She had a heart for people, never met a stranger, and was always willing to give of her time to others in need.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Guy F. Fain III (Ellen) of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Guy F. Fain IV of Chattanooga, TN, and Melissa Fain Sparks (Cameron) of Houston, Texas, and great grandson, Cooper William Sparks. Naomi is predeceased by siblings, Ella Neil Scott Holden of Inman, SC, Era Scott Riser of Spartanburg, SC, Joseph Clifford Scott Jr., Lawrence Gibson Scott and Jean Scott Pitt. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. Jack Dodd. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302 or a charity of one’s choice.
