Nancy Smith

Nancy W. Smith, 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 31, 2018 while being cared for at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice House, following a brief illness. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Mary Abernathy Witherspoon and Walter "Bill" Lewis Witherspoon, Sr.. Her brother, Walter Lewis Witherspoon, Jr, precedes her in death. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Eva Marie Smith, of the home, her son , Richard Lane Smith, of the home and three grandchildren, Brittany Lynn Cromer of Spartanburg, and Robert Lane Smith and Andrew Douglas Smith of Pauline. Nancy was a lifelong member of Southside Baptist Church in Spartanburg. She treasured the wonderful ladies in the Sisters in Christ Sunday School class and the loving and caring women in her weekly Bible Study. She loved the beach and enjoyed music and decorating. She was a good friend, a loving mother and a delightful grandmother, who cherished time with her family, especially her cousins. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Southside Baptist Church and will be officiated by the Reverend Dr. Schuyler Peterson. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the Parlor from 10:00 - 10:45 AM. A private burial will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Youth Ministry or the Building fund at Southside Baptist Church, 316 S. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
