Nancy Stone Singleton, 77, of 79 West Ridge Drive, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Born December 20, 1931, in Pelzer, SC, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Maude Stone. A graduate of Pelzer High School, she spent her professional career with First Baptist Church in Aberdeen, NC, as the church secretary and an executive assistant with JP Stevens Inc. in Aberdeen, NC, and Greer, SC, and of JPS, Inc. in Greenville, SC. She was a former member of New Pisgah Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, all in Spartanburg. She was very involved in the WMU and foreign missions programs; especially Lottie Moon and the Pumi People of Southwest China. She also spent her adult life in Christian service in many areas, including The Spartanburg Children's Shelter and the Ellen Hines Smith Girls Home. She took advantage of every opportunity to teach and lead others to serve and follow the Christ that she is enjoined with today. She was a loving and devoted wife of 60 years. She is survived by her husband, J.O. Singleton; two daughters, Hollie Dean and her husband William of Aberdeen, NC, and Cindy Moore and her husband David of Boiling Springs; one brother, Theron Stone of McCormick, SC; four grandchildren, William Dean II, Elizabeth Hoyle, Emily Moore, and Jeremy Moore; and five great- grandchildren. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dr. Gwenn McCormick and the Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
