Nancy Violetta Ballenger Shelton, 78, of 691 Archer Road, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born July 17, 1931, in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Algie Richard and Betty Hayes Ballenger. A graduate of Cecil's Business College, she was retired from the office of Dr. Benny Allen at the Children's Clinic with 21 years of service. She was a member of Glendale Baptist Church. Her life's goal was to medically help people and animals. Survivors include her husband, Edward Smith Shelton; a brother, Larry Richard Ballenger and wife Joan of Inman; a sister, Donna Gibbs and husband Jimmy of Spartanburg; a sister-in-law, Carol Ballenger of Spartanburg; two nieces, Wendy Ballenger and Chrissy Ballenger, both of Spartanburg; four nephews, Richard Bridwell of Wellford, Jeffery Ballenger of Weaverville, NC, Tony Bishop of Hendersonville, NC, and Richard Tucker of Nevada; several great-nieces and nephews; and three 4-legged babies, Chipper, Lexi, and Sammy. She was predeceased by a sister, Myra Ballenger; and a brother, Allen Ballenger. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Davis Memorial Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Church conducted by the Rev. Charles Hall. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
