Nancy Gibbs

September 11, 1936 — November 25, 2016

Nancy Jo Hallman Gibbs, 80, of Spartanburg, SC, was called home to her Lord after a short illness on Friday, November 25, 2016. Born September 11, 1936, in Spartanburg, SC, she was raised by her loving mother, Merle McKleskey and step-father, A. J. McKleskey. On October 25, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles Eugene Gibbs. Nancy retired from the offices of Evangel Cathedral in 2008. She shared the love of growing dahlias with Eugene and was a member of the Dahlia Society earning many ribbons and awards. She enjoyed church friends and activities at Evangel and later at GraceWay which is now Hope Church of Spartanburg. Nancy loved her family and especially enjoyed time spent with her two grandsons. She is survived by daughter, Debbie Wright (Gene); grandsons, Kyle Wright (Neely) and Taylor Wright (girlfriend, Kasey Netherton); son-in-law, Steve Coggins; sister-in-law, Barbara Gibbs; nieces and nephews, Joe, Lisa, Michael, Lynn and their respective families. In addition to her husband, Charles Eugene Gibbs, she was predeceased by her daughter, Teresa Coggins; and brother-in-law, Joe Gibbs. The family would like to thank Nancy's close friends, Anna and Donnie Webb, who are like family and were a great help in her declining health journey with unconditional love and support. We would also like to extend a special thanks to her friend and pastor, Rev. Jan King, as well as, many other friends who visited and helped when needed. We appreciate all the care given by the staff at White Oak Estates and the staff of Hospice of South Carolina. Cryptside visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Monday, November 28, 2016, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with services following at 3:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Jan King. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 110 Dillon Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307; or Hope Church of Spartanburg, 6655 Pottery Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
