Myrtle Zimmerman

Myrtle Hope Zimmerman, 89, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born January 30, 1923, in Caroleen, NC, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Grace Scruggs Hope, and wife of the late Charles Henry Zimmerman. She was the last surviving member of her immedicate family. Mrs. Zimmerman was a very active member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She attended Cecil's Business College, worked as the office manager for the Spartanburg County Tax Assessors Office, and was a member of the Altrusa Club for 35 years. Survivors include her sons, Stephen F. Zimmerman of Denver, CO and Len C. Zimmerman and wife Robyn of Greer, SC; daughter-in-law, Sandra L. Zimmerman of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren, Neil Lee Zimmerman, Jr., Lindsay Hope Zimmerman, Jean Owens, Kerrie Barbee, Leigh Ann McMinn, Amber Bagnulo, Gibb Little, Kristine Marie Zimmerman, and Charles Erik Zimmerman; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Neil Lee Zimmerman. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Bethel United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. David Smith. Visitation will follow the service.
