Myrtle Brockman Ouzts Sublett, 90, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at White Oak Estates. Born December 30, 1918, in Reidville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Belton Bryant and Mittie Fowler Brockman. She was first married to the late James W. Ouzts and then to the late O. C. Sublett. She graduated from Lander College and Cecil's Business College, retired from the SC Employment Security Commission with over 30 years of service as an interviewer with the Job Placement Division, and volunteered with Mobile Meals and the American Red Cross at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Sublett loved ballroom dancing and playing bridge. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School and was a member of Church Circle #1. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Anne Ouzts Stoddard and two grandchildren, Maddie A. Stoddard and James Wesley Stoddard, all of Mount Pleasant, SC; two sisters, Margaret Brockman Ivey of Spartanburg, and Hilda Brockman Suitt of Greenville; and numerous well-loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Bunny Brockman and Carlyle Brockman; and a sister, Mittie O. Brockman. Visitation will be 2:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. David B. Smith.
