Myrtle Gregory

Myrtle Taylor Gregory, 90, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born in Spartanburg, July 14, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Gertrude Snow Taylor; and wife, for forty years, of the late Claude Joseph Gregory. Myrtle was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Gregory was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a former employee of Startex Mill. Survivors include two daughters, Claudette Owens of Inman, and Joan Lawson of Spartanburg; three granddaughters, Dena Lawson of Spartanburg, Jill Lawson Thompson of Cowpens, and Anna Owens Emmel of Fountain Inn; a grand son, Marc Owens of Lyman; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 PM Friday, March 18, 2011 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM at the church, conducted by the Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth, the Rev. Jason Lee, and Mr. Larry Owens. Burial will be in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 350 N. Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
