Myrtle Cartee

Myrtle Alice Clayton Cartee, 85, of 8130 Rollins Street, died Thursday, August 27, 2009, at her home. Born August 7, 1924, in Henderson County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Hattie Belle Clayton and the wife of the late Boyce Lee Cartee. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Blake of Spartanburg, Debra Godfrey of Chesnee, and Brenda Cannon of Duncan; four sons, Robert Cartee and Jeff Cartee, both of Spartanburg, Wayne Cartee of Glendale, and Johnny Cartee of Campobello; a brother, Edward Shipman of Spartanburg; fourteen grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by one daughter, two sons, and a grandchild. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2009, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2009, at Trinity Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Dennis Carter and Pastor Fred Brown. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman. Memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home.
