Myrna Taylor Stokes, 82, of Moore, SC died Sunday, February 28, 2021 at her home. Born in Columbia, SC on January 15, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Otis Taylor and Mildred Goodwin Taylor. A graduate of Furman University, Mrs. Stokes was a music teacher, teaching music in public schools and piano and voice privately. She was a member of First Baptist Spartanburg where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Stokes also wrote music and was a performer of music. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Troy Furman Stokes Sr.; sons, Troy F. "Sonny" Stokes Jr. (Pamela), Ronald P. Stokes all of Spartanburg, SC, David T. Stokes (Tammy) and daughter, Maria Gibbs (Chip) all of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Stephanie Taylor Stokes of Tega Cay, SC, Jack Stokes, Katy Stokes and Susanna Elizabeth Phillips all of Inman, SC; brother, Carl Taylor of Edisto Beach, SC and Otis Taylor of Newberry, SC, and sister, Amelia Schafer of Gaston, SC. She was predeceased by sister, Tanya Goff and brothers, Larry Taylor, Mark Taylor, and Keith Taylor. Mrs. Stokes will be available for viewing 9:00-4:30 PM on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 6, 2021 at First Baptist Spartanburg conducted by The Rev. Robert Neely and The Rev. Britt Dillard. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Masks and social distancing are required.
