Master Sergeant Walter C. Garrett, U. S. Army (Ret.), 92, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at his home. Born March 31, 1922, in Clifton, SC, he was the son of the late Dudley J. and Jessie Israel Mayton Garrett and husband of the late Margaret Lucille Hughes Garrett. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam War, Mr. Garrett was also a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Surviving are his sisters, Marie Garner and Edith Ford, both of Spartanburg, SC; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 PM Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. David Ervin and the Rev. John Howle. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
