Shirley Solesbee Hayes, 78, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at her home. Born on November 19, 1935 in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Edward James and Ella Mae Israel Solesbee and wife of the late James David Hayes, Sr. She was a member of Una First Free Will Baptist Church, a homemaker and foster parent. She is survived by her son, James David Hayes, Jr. and his wife Joy of Boiling Springs; her daughters, Susan Hayes Steadings and her husband Sam of Inman, and Sherry Hayes of Spartanburg; her sister, Gail Quinn of Arcadia; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Morris Hayes. Visitation will be held Friday, December 27, 2013, from 2:00 to 2:45 pm at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4081 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Cash. Burial will follow at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens.
