Mrs. Pearl Swindle

Pearl Ridings Swindle, 96, of the Buckeye Forest Community, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills. She was born on August 26, 1916 to the late Robert Jonas and Bessie Kiser Ridings and the wife of the late Walter Bert Swindle Sr. Mrs. Swindle was a loving caregiver to numerous children. She was a charter member of Buckeye Forest Baptist Church and River View Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and a nursery teacher. She is survived by sons, Walter Bert Swindle Jr. (Phyllis) of Greenville, SC, Robert Walker Swindle (Juliette) of Spartanburg; daughters, Linda R. Griffith (Gary) of Spartanburg, Janice S. Bright (Fred) of Duncan, SC, Cathy S. Quinton (Mike) of Columbia, SC, Martha S. Nichols (Randall) of Spartanburg, Pamela S. Andrews (Hugh) of Inman, SC; 23 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws, Ollie Ravan of Greenville, SC, and Marie Ridings of Moore, SC; brother-in-law, Ben H. Swindle of Greenville, SC, special neighbors, Bynum and Colleen Murray and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jaye Griffith; a great-grandson, Blake Griffith; brothers, Boyd, Hollis, Ernest, Woodrow, Claude and John Ridings and John "T-Bone" Kiser; sisters, Pauline Kirby, Marie Smith and Kate Ballenger. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, with services following at 4:00 PM conducted by Rev. Willie Crain and her grandson, Lee Bright who will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kevin Griffith, Matthew Quinton, Travis Bright, Lee Bright, Dustin Andrews, Chris Swindle, and Nick Swindle. Honorary escort will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, P. O. Box 127, Landrum, SC 29356.
