Mrs. Marie Weathers

Marie L. Weathers, 60, was suddenly called home on Monday, August 5, 2013. Marie was born on January 1, 1953 in Spartanburg, SC, to Shirley and Jerome Laws. She grew up in Spartanburg with two older sisters, Lynn and Brenda and her younger brother Bill. Marie met Robert Weathers in church as a teenager and they were married three years later on January 7, 1971. Together they had two sons, Robbie, 39, and Terry, 34, of whom they are so very proud. Marie graduated with honors from Spartanburg Technical College with two Degrees and was formerly employed with Beaumont Mills, Drayton Mills and Hayssen. Although she was good at her jobs, family was where she excelled. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Throughout their 42 year marriage, Marie worked alongside Robert with a shared dream and together they achieved so much. Marie was so proud of the things she accomplished in life, especially their place at the lake. Many weekends and years were spent working at Lake Greenwood getting it ready for weekend getaways, retirement, entertaining and a future place to bring the grandbabies. Her grandchildren Mia, 8, Trey, 6, and Alex, 4, were her blessings and her joy. Many of their days with "Granny" were spent at her house, baking cakes, at the library, the lake, or traveling with her and papa. Anyone who knew Marie or spent time talking with her would get to know her "grandbabies" through her stories. Marie loved taking vacations at Myrtle Beach with her family. She cherished every moment she spent with her family and would drop everything to be by their side at any given moment. She was preceded in death by her father Jerome Laws and her faithful pet Ginger. She is survived by her husband, Robert, two sons, Robbie and daughter-in-law, Michele and Terry and daughter-in-law, Melissa, all of Drayton, SC, her mother, Shirley Laws of Inman, SC, sisters, Lynn Henderson of Spartanburg, SC, Brenda Taylor of Inman, SC and brother Bill Laws of Inman, SC. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Mia, Trey and Alex, which were her blessings. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by Rev. Tim Hackett.
