Mr. James Hughes, Sr

James Earl Hughes, Sr., 81, of Cowpens, beloved husband of Alpha Linder Hughes for 62 years, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at his residence. He was the son of the late Wade Avery and Hazel Chastain Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a retired machinist with 42 years of service with the Draper Corporation. He was a member of the Cowpens First Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Larry W. Hughes (Leslie), of Spartanburg; Jimmy Hughes (Linda) of Cowpens, SC; Doyle Hughes of Pauline, SC; a sister, Madeline H. Daniel of Gaffney, SC; grandchildren, Candace Blanton (Tony), Cassie Hughes, Dana Blair Gunter (Chris) and Carla L. Hughes and great-grandchildren, Ansley Frady, Lawson Frady, Eli Gunter and Luke Gunter. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Dr. Mike Davis. Visitation will follow the service at the graveside.
