Monte Ballard Reaves, 83, of Spartanburg, SC died Sunday, July 17, 2022, at her home. Born July 8, 1939, in Gaffney, SC, she was a daughter of the late Robert Flemmons and Drucilla West Ballard, and was the wife of the late James Alfred “Tommy” Reaves for 41 years.
A 1957 Spartanburg High School graduate, Monte was retired after 30 years of service with Bi-Lo Grocery stores. She was a member of Glendale Baptist Church and Women’s Missionary Union.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Reaves McDonald (Brian) of Simpsonville, SC, her son, James Michael Reaves (Dawn) of Spartanburg, SC, six grandchildren, Caroline McDonald, Kathryn Boland, Preston Reaves, Bryson Reaves, Brooke Reaves and Mollie Reaves, three great grandchildren, and her sisters, Juanita Brown of Boiling Springs and Helen Oxley of Gastonia, NC. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Robert Reaves, and siblings, Frank Ballard and JoAnn Roberts.

Visitation will be 11:00 am – 12:00 noon, Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Graveside service will be at 12:30 pm, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Daniel Blackwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glendale Baptist Church, 1 Church Street, Glendale, SC 29346.
