Mollie Jean Tate Lewis, 69, of 8121 Daniel Court, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. She passed away after a battle with cancer. Mollie Jean, a daughter of the late Boyd Lee and Mamie Gertrude Flynn Tate, was born January 30, 1941 in the New Prospect community of Spartanburg County. She was a 1958 graduate of Boiling Springs High School. She was a longtime member of Bethany Baptist Church, where before her illness she was very active member of the Son Shine Sunday School Class and served her Lord as the church librarian and member of the choir. She also loved playing the piano and doing cross stitch. She was formerly employed as a secretary for Southeastern Management Corp. Mollie Jean is survived by her husband, William R. (Bill) Lewis; a daughter, Trudi LeAnn Watts and her husband James of Spartanburg; a grandson, Zachary Taylor Phillips of Valrico, FL; a sister, Bertha Carolyn Tate Hill and husband Roger of Spartanburg; a brother, Wayne Lee Tate and wife Gail of Boiling Springs, SC; a sister-in-law, Elaine Painter Tate, widow of Jesse Tate of Moore, SC; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, William R. Lewis, Jr. and a brother, Jesse Boyd Tate. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Herbert C. Garrett, Jr. and the Rev. Glenn Rusher. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
