Mitchell Blackwell

Mitchell Shell Blackwell, 59, of Spartanburg, SC died Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family, after his short battle with Glioblastoma. Born January 24, 1962 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Mitchell Allen and Miriam King Blackwell.

Survivors include his wife, Tandy Blackwell, his daughter, Katie Seay (Jay), his son, Tyler Blackwell (Chelsea), grandchildren, Landon Seay, Leah Faith Blackwell, Lynlee Blackwell, his step-grandson, Drake Wilson, his special aunt, Carolyn Metcalf, and a village of close friends. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Steve Blackwell, Terry Blackwell and Joy Blackwell.

Shell was a devoted South Carolina Gamecock fan and an avid golfer. He loved to travel with friends and family, especially to Folly Beach.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, November 26, 2021 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Joe Blackwelder. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
