Mitchell Blackwell

Mitchell Allen Blackwell, 77, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at his home. Born March 18, 1935, in Greeneville, TN, he was the son of the late A. B. and Ruby Hixon Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell was retired from Mitch Blackwell Masonry after 40 years of service. He was a member of Hejaz Shriners and of the Methodist faith. Surviving are his son, Mitchell Shell Blackwell and wife Tandy of Spartanburg, SC; daughter-in-law, Wendy Blackwell of Cowpens, SC; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sons, Stephen Scott Blackwell and Terry Allen Blackwell; and a daughter, Karen Joy Blackwell. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, September 28, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Bill Bethea. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tidewater Hospice, 531 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home.
