Miriam L. Dunnaway Smith, 83, of Pacolet, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 6, 1928, in Pacolet Mills, Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Schumpert Lee and Nettie Marie Garner Dunnaway, and wife of the late Lloyd Smith. Mrs. Smith worked at Coleman's, Super Ten, was an Avon Representative and member of the Avon President's Club. She was also a member of Pacolet First Baptist Church where she was a choir member, Sunday School teacher, and member of Women's Missionary Union (WMU). Survivors include her daughter, Julia Wilkins (Lewis) of Pauline; sons, Michael Anthony "Tony" Smith (Jane) of Summerville, and Christopher Scott Smith of Pacolet; grandchildren, Angie Teaster of Pacolet, David Teaster (Darlene) of Pauline, Allyson Smith of Columbia, and Adam Smith of Summerville; great-grandchildren, Sam and Lane Glass of Pacolet, and Michael Teaster of Pauline; and sister, Shirley White of Pacolet. She was predeceased her daughter, Cathy D. Smith; and brother, Jackie Dunnaway. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2011, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, by the Rev. Norman L. Band. Burial will be in Pacolet First Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association-Upstate SC, 101 Verdae Blvd, Suite 130-153, Greenville, SC 29607; or a charity of one's choice. The family is at the home of her granddaughter, Angie Teaster, 361 Sunset Drive, Pacolet.
