Mildred Everhart Whisnant, 97, of Spartanburg, SC died Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her home. Born March 6, 1924 in Lexington, NC, she was the daughter of the late Baxter O. and Mary Hedrick Everhart and the wife of the late Hermon D. Whisnant.
Mildred was a substitute teacher at the Charles Lea Center and was a special events Director at Belk store. Always staying busy, she worked with Jean Harley Antiques.
She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church for over 20 years and a member of Rutledge Book Club.
Survivors include her son, Carroll Sanford “Sandy” (Sue S.) Whisnant, grandson, Greg Whisnant, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC, daughter-in-law, Betsy Ann Whisnant, step-grandchildren, Mary Darwin of Clearwater, FL and Chris Darwin of Oregon. She was also predeceased by a son, Herman Gregory Whisnant, Sr. and her siblings, Sara Penney, Marie Crouse, Mitchell Everhart, Calvin Everhart, and Dale Everhart.
A Cryptside service will be 3:00 PM Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Joe Whisnant. Visitation will follow.
