Mildred K. Padgett, 81, of Fairlane Drive, passed away very peacefully Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at her home after a long illness. Born January 30, 1929 in Saluda, SC, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Lou Bedenbaugh Kirkland and was the devoted wife of Horace D. Padgett for 63 years. Mildred was very active in the Azalea Garden Club in Spartanburg having served as president for several terms and was also a member of the Saluda Historical Society. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Johnston, Pendleton and Spartanburg. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Horace D. Padgett, Jr. (Patricia) of Anderson, Sandra L. Padgett and Barbara L. Padgett both of Greer; two grandchildren, Amanda P. Stevenson (John) of Clemson and Emily S. Padgett of Anderson; eight nephews and two nieces; and special caregiver, Carolyn Whiteside. Mrs. Padgett was predeceased by five brothers and sisters. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2010 at Travis Park Cemetery in Saluda, SC, conducted by Rev. Joe K. Brown and Eulogy by Ruby Euela Herlong.
