Mildred Garrett

Mildred Byars Garrett, 87, of Spartanburg, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 22, 1922 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Randolph O. and Janie Mae Owens Byars and the wife of the late Woodrow Wilson Garrett. She retired from Belk Hudson Company with over 25 years of service, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Lynn Stapleton of Spartanburg; two sisters, Edna Clardy of Spartanburg and Joan Gordon of Jacksonville, FL; two grandsons, Joey and Jason Stapleton; and four nieces and four nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert Byars and David Paul Byars; and a sister, Louise Byars. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Danny Garrett. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
