Mildred Pauline Thomas Copelton, 94, of Roebuck, SC, formerly of 316 Beech Street, Stanhope, NJ, died Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born February 23, 1917, in Fayette County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Orval and Mary Elizabeth Bolen Thomas, and wife of the late John Edward Copelton. Mrs. Copelton was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Stanhope, NJ where she was a member of the Women of the Church, a Sunday School teacher, and choir member for 14 years. She was a former employee of Dover Handbag Company. Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Swistak and husband Gary of the residence; sons, John E. Edward Copelton and wife Beverly of Atlantic City, NJ, David A. Copelton and wife Antonette of Newton, NJ, Paul L. Copelton and wife Becky of Spartanburg, SC, and Thomas E. Copelton and wife Judy of Long Pond, PA; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Katherine Thomas of Adah, PA. She was predeceased by four brothers and nine sisters. Visitation will be 1:00-2:45 PM Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, in the church, conducted by the Rev. Andrew Dionne and the Rev. Raymond A. Hellings. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2012, in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa, NJ, arrangements by Morgan Funeral Home, Netcong, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 500 Oak Grove Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301. The family is at the home of her daughter, Joyce Swistak, 514 Station East Lane, Roebuck, SC 29376.
