The Celebration of Life for Mildred Masters will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9th, 2022, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel 2075 E Main Street in Spartanburg. The family will welcome friends after the service.
Mildred was born in Zirconia, NC, on November 14th, 1933, to father, Homer Alvin Allen and mother, Eva Ward Allen. Mildred is a graduate of Fairforest High School and attended Robinson Business College. At age 19, Mildred went to work for Freeman Gas, where she continued to work for 55 years. Mildred took great pride in her work and enjoyed working with her coworkers and interacting with customers.
While at Freeman Gas, Mildred met and married Charles Masters. They were married for 49 years until Charles’ passing in 2002. They both attended Hayne Baptist Church.
Throughout her life, Mildred was a steadfast person with a kind and loving disposition. She enjoyed family gatherings and trips with her church group. She had a special place in her heart for children and would “light up” in their company.
Mildred is survived by her siblings; brother Homer Allen (Donna) of Emerald Isle, NC; sister, Margaret Hart of Columbia, SC; brother, Franklin Allen (Linda) of Marietta, GA; nephews David Allen (Christy) of Traveler’s Rest, SC; Phillip Allen of Emerald Isle, NC; nieces Jenny Evans (John) of Spartanburg, SC; Amanda Schroeder (Jay) of Decatur, GA; and Debi Sox of Columbia, SC. She was also blessed with grand-nephews, grand-nieces, and many special close friends who were like family to her.
