Michael Yoffe

Michael Steven Yoffe, 64, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born September 11, 1950, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Earl and Thelma Tanenbaum Yoffe. Mr. Yoffe was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1968 to 1975. He was co-owner of Arrow Steel Products, a graduate of Spartanburg High School Class of 1968 and University of South Carolina Class of 1972. He was a member of Temple B'nai Israel where he served as a Board member, as well as holding several offices, and was past President of Congregation in 2004 to 2006. A former member of the Spartanburg Jaycees, Mr. Yoffe was a former Board member of the Spartanburg Children's Shelter where he also served as president and treasurer. Surviving is his beloved wife of 42 years, Nancy Fleishman Yoffe; daughter, Jennifer Yoffe Goldman, her husband Harvey, and beloved granddaughter, Madeleine Goldman of New York, NY; daughter, Erin Yoffe Halper , her husband Matthew, and beloved grandsons, Louis and Benjamin Halper of Summit, NJ; sisters, Mindy Yoffe Slotin of Spartanburg, SC, and Fran Yoffe Simon of Atlanta, GA; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Temple B'nai Israel, by Rabbi Yossi Liebowitz. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple B'nai Israel, 146 Heywood Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or The Children's Advocacy Center (formerly Spartanburg Children's Shelter), PO Box 6007, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
