Michael Lamar Toney

Michael Lamar Toney, born in Spartanburg, SC in 1961 to Margaret Stevens, was taken from us too soon after a long battle with cancer. His mom always described him as a loving son who always made her laugh but definitely kept her on her toes. He loved his mother dearly.

He married the love of his life, Cindy Toney, December 22, 1986. They had a fairy tale marriage, and he always showered her with love and compassion. His wife was and will forever be the love of his life. He loved her more than anything in this world. His in-laws, WC & Georgia Bain loved him truly for the man and husband he was to Cindy & grandchildren.

Michael had three children, son, Michael Toney, and two daughters Candria Smith & Lacey Garner. He had two sons-in laws, Emmanuel Smith & Matt Garner, who he loved as his own, along with daughter in law Julie Toney. He was so proud of his children and beyond grateful for the grandchildren he was blessed with: Amanda, Adrian, Tristan, Arielle, Sarinity, & Makenna who he showered with love and affection at all times. He was excited for his unborn granddaughter & namesake, Lamaria, due January 2024.

Michael was always happiest when spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing trips with his son, son-in-law, brother Dwayne and grandchildren. Michael and Cindy enjoyed their quality time taking cruises and vacations all over.

Michael was a true example of a father & husband. He was hardworking & dedicated to his employer, Norris Iron & Metal, as General Manager, and was appreciated & respected by many. He had a contagious smile & sense of humor that could make anyone laugh.

His family will have a graveside service at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 15th, 2023, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
