Michael Thornton

Michael James Thornton, 66, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, January 9, 2017, at his home. Born August 2, 1950, in Pauline, SC, he was the son of the late Richard James and Gladys Louise Jones Thornton. A graduate of Dorman High School, Mr. Thornton (aka: Black Beard), enjoyed riding Harley Davidson's and driving corvettes and 379 Peterbilt's. He was a member of Glenn Springs Presbyterian Church and Senior Sales Consultant at Dick Brooks Honda. Survivors include his wife, Donna Sisk Thornton of Pauline, SC; sons, Michael Todd Thornton and Jason Thornton (Keisha), all of Pauline, SC; grandsons, Hunter Thornton (Kelsey) and Justin Thornton; great-granddaughters, Summer Leigh and Sara Ann; sister, Dicksie Gunter (Joseph) of Spartanburg, SC; and his favorite canine companion, Chloe. Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. B. E. Pettit. Burial, with eulogy by Mr. Ed Rich, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
