Michael Richey

Michael Dennis Richey, 59, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, May 27, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born July 15, 1956 in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Dallas Wilbur and Doris Seay Richey. He was the widower of Trudy Duerksen Richey. Dennis was employed at Spartanburg Medical Center. Prior to his hospital employment, he was co-owner of Buffeteria, Inc. He was a Mason and was a former member of the Spartanburg Jaycees. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include sons, Michael Ryan Richey (Alicia Ruiz Calle) of San Angelo, TX; Joshua David Richey (Megan Reilly Richey) of Spartanburg, SC; grandson, Jesse Richey; granddaughters, Isabel Richey Ruiz and Emerson Richey; and nieces Katie Richey Bigby and Jenny Richey. He was also predeceased by a brother, Dallas Gene "Danny" Richey. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 30, 2016 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Gary Hensley. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Childrens Security Blanket, 1855 East Main St., Ste. 14, Box 101, Spartanburg, SC 29307, in honor of his great nephew, Evan Bigby, who also battled cancer. The family will be at the home of Kirk and Shelley Duerksen, 271 Winfield Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
