Michael Evatt

July 16, 1952 — April 17, 2014

Michael Samuel Evatt, 61, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, April 17, 2014. Born July 16, 1952 in Anderson County, SC, he was the son of the late James Henry and Lillie Mae Seigler Evatt. After working 18 years at McCall's Men's Clothing Store, he opened Sam Evatt's Men's Clothing Store in 1991. Sam was a member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church where he was a pivotal leader in its life and direction. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. Sam also was an avid golfer and community and civic leader. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Vonda Bear Evatt; son and daughter-in-law, Samuel Clay Evatt and Sara Malarik Evatt and granddaughter, Harper Anne Evatt of Greenville, SC; brothers, Jerry Evatt of Gulf Breeze, FL, Kenneth Evatt and Ronnie Evatt both of Belton, SC. He was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Marvin, and Herman Evatt. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday, April 21, 2014 at Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. D. J. Horton and the Rev. Kevin Harrison. Burial will be in Westwood Memorial Gardens, 6101 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369. Pallbearers will be David Bullington, Don Crout, Ben Dawsey, Randy Kibler, Gary Ridings, Raymond Spradlin, Harlan Thompson, and Mike Wood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 4455 Anderson Mill Rd., Moore, SC 29369.
