Michael Patrick Clarke, 64, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the home of his daughter. Born September 19, 1946, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas Kevin and Sarah Theresa Mitchell Clarke. Mr. Clarke was a painter and minister of the Christian faith who loved spreading the Word of God. Survivors include his children, Regina Champion and husband Tony of Spartanburg, Michael Clarke and David Clarke of New York, NY, John Clarke and wife Lori of Greensboro, NC, Liberti Kelley and husband James of New York, NY; grandchildren, Ryan and Austin Adams, Madison Ridlehoover, all of Spartanburg, Alyssa, Patricia, Christian, and John Clarke, Jr., all of Greensboro, NC, James, Alysia, Savanna, and Julia Kelley, all of New York, NY; a great-grandchild, Caleb Clarke; brothers, John and Billy Clarke of New York, and Thomas Clarke of New Jersey; and a sister, Ann VanGorda of New York. He was predeceased by a sister, Sally Clarke. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Larry Wilks. The family is at the home of his daughter, Regina and Tony Champion.
