Michael Brady

April 5, 1963 — November 28, 2016

Michael "Scotty" Scott Brady, 53, of Spartanburg, SC, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 28, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital Downtown, Greenville, SC. He bravely fought cancer for over 20 years and five surgeries. Born April 5, 1963, in Spartanburg, he was the son of James H. and Rachel Kent Brady of Spartanburg, SC. Scott was a graduate of Dorman High School where he was active in sports. He was best known for his role as center for the football team when he faced Aikens nose guard William Perry who later was known as the Fridge playing with the Chicago Bears. He received his BS Degree in Physical Education from Mars Hill College and a Master's Degree in Physical Education from Winthrop University. He was an avid body builder and possessed over 50 trophies from various Body Building Competitions. He also received the Iron Man of the Year Award two years in a row. Scott introduced personal training to the Spartanburg area where he established the one-on-one Fitness business known as Flex-Ability and later SCOTTY T BODY Fitness Systems. Scott worked in various fitness facilities in the Upstate. Fitness was his business and his main love. He was called on by many novice body builders to learn the mechanics of posing and how to develop a posing routine. In addition to his parents and many friends, he is survived by two special friends, Debbie Walker and Patty Splawn. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Kent and Mr. and Mrs. James E. Brady. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 PM Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Rob Gouge, the Rev. Monty King, and the Rev. Eddie Cooper. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mount Zion Baptist Church, 842 Mount Zion Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home.
