Merle Pruitt

Lillie "Merle" Lowery Pruitt, 77, of Spartanburg, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at RoseCrest. Born November 11, 1932 in Lyman, SC, she was the daughter of the late Leo M. and Myrtice Williams Lowery. She and her husband, the late Paul Pruitt, celebrated their 50 year anniversary on February 13, 2010. She was a member of the former Church of God, Landrum, SC and a longtime dedicated volunteer with the Prison Ministry called Messiah's Ministry of Love. Merle is survived by a stepson, Paul Douglas Pruitt of Chester; a step grandson, Paul D. Pruitt, Jr. of Waterloo; a step granddaughter, Krystal Pruitt of Madison, GA; a brother, Alvin L. Lowery and his wife Dorothy of Hendersonville, NC; a sister Marie Lowery Chesnee and her husband Malcolm G. of Spartanburg; four step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Tony Poore and Pastor Raymond Ford, Sr. Burial will follow in Westwood Memorial Gardens.
