Melvin Lytle

Melvin Charles "Moon" Lytle, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born December 7, 1928, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Alfred Gilliam Lytle and Vada Byars Lytle. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Lytle was the owner/operator of Lytle's Place. He was a member of Cannon's Camp Ground United Methodist Church, the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class, Converse-Cowpens Masonic Lodge #210, and Hejaz Shrine. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Mabry Lytle; children, Denise Lytle Cozzoli and her husband, Charles Thomas Cozzoli, Barry Charles Lytle, and Dana Gilliam Lytle and his wife Michelle, all of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Lytle and fiancé, Andy McClure, Drake Mabry Foster, Mason Gilliam Lytle, and Lane Charles Lytle; special nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Stella Lytle Willard, Alfred Gilliam Lytle Jr., Reba Lytle Neighbors, and Marvin Byars Lytle. Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 PM Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Cannon's Camp Ground United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Mac Kinnett and the Rev. David Ervin. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cannon's Camp Ground United Methodist Church, 3450 Cannon's Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307; or Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. The family is at the home of Dana and Michelle Lytle, 132 Old Converse Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
