Maynard Miller

Maynard Hartwell Miller, 90, of Pauline, SC, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at his home. Born May 8, 1926, in Pauline, he was the son of the late Frank and Lois Gregory Miller and husband of the late Odelle Smith Miller. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Miller retired from the Spartanburg County Sheriff Department after 29 years of service. He was also the owner of Pauline Café from 1974-1990, a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, the Fidelis Sunday School Class, WOW #28, and VFW Post #9539. Surviving are his daughters, Rachel M. Long (Leon) of Lyman, SC, and Tammie M. Price (Ricky) of Pauline, SC; grandchildren, Kristina Cannon, Katie Coffey (Elio), Brent Price (Jen), Jody Price, Patrick Price, and Nikki Price; great-grandsons, Nate and Owen Price; great-granddaughter, Ellie Grace Coffey; step-grandchildren, Richard Long and Mandy Recoma (Lou); step-great-grandchildren, Charlie, Lillie, Louie, Tristin, and Chloe Long; and brother, Robert G. Miller of Pauline, SC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Joseph "Jody" Maynard Miller; and brother, Franklin Miller. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2017, at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 3119 Hwy 56, Pauline, SC 29374, by the Rev. Charles M. Eaton, the Rev. Edgar Boles, and Sheriff Chuck Wright. Burial with funeral rites by the Spartanburg County Sheriff Department Honors Team will be in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will follow in the church sanctuary. Honorary escort will be members of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Department.
