Maynard Gahagan, 85, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born June 19, 1926, in Madison County, NC, he was the son of the late Warner and Polly Cook Gahagan. Mr. Gahagan was retired from Hoechst Celanese. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God where he was a former church treasurer and deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and employed with the Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock Company during World War II. Surviving are his beloved wife of 65 years, Trula Evalee Bishop Gahagan; sons, Ron Gahagan and wife Onoosh and Mike Gahagan and wife Brenda, all of Spartanburg, SC; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Gahagan and wife Lucille of Campobello, SC, and Johnny Gahagan and wife Ruth of Maryville, TN; sisters, Pearl Landers of Walnut, NC, and Trevis Tweed of Lyman, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 12:30-1:45 PM Monday, June 18, 2012, at Bethel Assembly of God. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. James Cencebaugh and the Rev. Barry Shepps. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex.
