Maxine Garrett Sellars, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday morning, February 25, 2025, at White Oak at North Grove in Boiling Springs, SC. A native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Howard and Ella Parris Garrett.
Maxine was a member of Summit Church-formerly Bethany Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for many years in the nursery department. She retired from Drayton Mills and later worked in cafeteria services in Spartanburg County School District Six.
She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Barnette and son-in-law Larry; her daughter Reeda Proffitt; two grandchildren, Brendall Mathis (Michelle) and Hannah Trail (Preston); and three great-grandchildren, Kylie and Aubrey Mathis and Sullivan Trail.
She is predeceased by three sisters, Julia Garrett, Louise Harris, and Ellaree Miller; and one brother, Jesse Garrett.
Maxine loved her family, friends, and especially her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 pm Monday, March 3, 2025, at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm, in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Rusher. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park in Boiling Springs, SC.
The family wishes to thank the special nurses and staff of White Oak North Grove, the sweet caregivers from Spartanburg Regional Hospice team, and her precious suite mate for her love and care.
