Max Newton

Max Wayne Newton, 76, of 109 Fairway Drive, died Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Summit Hills. Born September 22, 1935, in Chesnee, SC, he was the son of the late George D. and Mavis Parris Newton. He attended Syracuse University and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from Arrow Automotive Industry after 39 years of service and was a member of Cherokee Springs United Methodist Church, where he was the church treasurer for many years. In addition to his wife, Mary Jo Keeney Newton, survivors include a daughter, Pamela Brown and husband Randy of Boiling Springs, SC; a son, Greg Newton and wife April of Spartanburg; two granddaughters, Kristen Brown and Lydia Newton; and a grandson, Bradley Newton. Visitation will be 6:30-8:00 PM on Monday, October 10, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at Springhill Memorial Gardens in Chesnee, conducted by the Rev. Brian Arant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Springs United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2095 Chesnee Highway, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home.
