Mavis Bolton Petty, 82, of Cowpens, SC, died Friday, September 26, 2014, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born June 2, 1932, in Cowpens, SC, she was the daughter of the late William and Vera Thomas Bolton, and wife for 30 years of the late Claude Monroe Petty. Mrs. Petty was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and retired from Community Cash after 35 years of service. Surviving is her son, Steven W. Petty (Olivia) of Inman, SC; grandson, Josh S. Petty (Christina) of Lyman, SC; great-grandsons, Logan Petty, Spencer Petty, and expectant Dylan Petty, all of Lyman, SC; aunt, Mae Addington of Duncan, SC; and special friend, Charles McClellan of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Theron Bolton. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 28, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Dr. Robert W. Kirby, Jr. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Homes, 180 Battleground Road, Cowpens, SC 29330.
