Matthias Lischerong

Matthias "Matz" Lischerong, 74, of Spartanburg, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born July 21, 1934, in Kleck, Germany, he was the son of the late Nikolaus and Katherina Jerch Lischerong. A graduate of Textile College of Reutlingen, Germany, he was the President of Primaknit, Inc. and Litex International Corporation. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 1977 South Carolina "Small Business Man of the Year", a member of the Board of First Citizens Bank, and an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Klim Lischerong; his son, Nikolaus Matthias Lischerong of Clemson; a brother-in-law, Timothy Lawrence Klimaszewki of Laurel, MD; two brothers, Anton Lischerong and his wife Hermine, and Edmund Lischerong and his wife Christel, three nephews, Robert Lischerong and his wife Gabi, Elmar Lischerong and his wife Kerstin, and Thomas Lischerong, three nieces, Angelika Lischerong-Behr, Doris Wissenbach and her husband Tilo, Sabrina Moser and her husband Severin, great-nephews, Marcel Wissenbach, Timm Wissenbach, Jonas Moser, and Nico Lischerong, and great-nieces, Ina Lischerong, Christin Lischerong, Nicole Lischerong-Behr, Jasmin Lischerong-Behr, Vanessa Lischerong-Behr, Sascha Wissenbach, Cline Lischerong, and Hannah Moser, all of Germany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church conducted by the Rev. James M. Crowley. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow the service in the Parish Life Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 161 North Dean Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
