Maryann Murphy

Maryann Murphy, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at her home. Born April 28, 1925, in Omaha, NE, she was the daughter of the late Frank Louis and Mary Foreman Vacek. Mrs. Murphy was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She retired from Dillard's Department Store after 15 years of service and was a volunteer for Mobile Meals Service and Mary Black Hospital. Surviving is her loving husband of 60 years, Loren John Murphy; children, Sally Murphy Ficklen (Ben) of Fort Mill, SC, Lori Jo Murphy of Spartanburg, SC, Michael Earl Murphy (Vicky) of Atlanta, GA, and John Austin Murphy of Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Jennifer Ficklen Moody (Tyler) and Lauren Ficklen Copeland (Garrett) all of Greenville, SC, Caroline Hill Ficklen of Fort Mill, SC, Dennis Butch Murphy and Frederick Chuck Murphy, both of Ortonville, MI; one great-grandchild; sisters, Betty Evanoff of Colorado and Franny Lee of Lincoln, NE; and a brother, Casey Vacek of Omaha, NE. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by two sisters, Lillian Kadereit and Alice Stolinski; and a brother, Victor Vacek. Funeral services in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens will be private.
