Mary Wolfe

Mary Alice Poteat Wolfe, 90, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.  She was born September 4, 1930 in Spartanburg, a daughter of the late Alvin and Lillie Easler Poteat and she was married to the late John Earle Wolfe, Sr.

Mrs. Wolfe was a member of First Baptist Church-Spartanburg, was a 1947 graduate of Spartanburg High School and was a retired bookkeeper.  She loved golf and enjoyed working in the pro shops of LanYair Country Club and The Creek Golf Club.

Surviving are two sons, Brian Alan Wolfe (Gail) of Boiling Springs and John Earle Wolfe, Jr., (Beth) of Spartanburg; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Rutledge (Atticus), Jay Wolfe (Annie) and Rob Wolfe; and 3 great-grandchildren, Bradley and Evelyn Rutledge and Evie Wolfe.

A private graveside service for the family will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, 635 Mt. Pleasant Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303, conducted by the Rev. Dale Rawlings.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to First Tee-Upstate SC, 3515 Pelham Road, Greenville, SC 29615.
