Mary Trammell

Mary Elizabeth Page Trammell, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born February 23, 1918, in Landrum, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frank Butler and Pauline Forrest Page, and the beloved wife for 61 years of the late Frank H. Trammell, Sr. A member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, Mrs. Trammell taught Girls Auxiliary for many years and was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class, WMU, and Young at Heart. She was a charter member of the Ivy Ring Garden Club and enjoyed gardening all her life. She was also a charter member of the National Beta Club which first began in 1934 at Landrum High School and she was honored at its 75th Celebration as one of four of the original fifteen charter members still living. She was administrative assistant to Mr. Lawrence D. McCarthy at the McCarthy-Teszler School and retired from the Spartanburg County Treasurers Office. Survivors include a son, Franklin H. Trammell and his wife, Martha, of Weddington, NC; a daughter, Mary Page Yarborough and her husband, Dan, of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Samuel H. Sloan, III "Trip" and his wife, Kathlena, of Bluffton, SC, Mary Elizabeth Copeland and her husband, Brian, of Lexington, SC, Dr. Franklin H. Trammell, III and his wife, Sara, of Asheville, NC, and Andrew Thomas Trammell and his wife, Katie, of Weddington, NC; great-grandchildren, Mary Grace and Ella Copeland, Elianna Trammell, and Caroline and Drew Trammell; and a sister, Hazel P. Marti of Edwardsville, IL. She was predeceased by two sisters, Juanita Page and Peggy Page Bussey. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. James C. Hilton. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or a charity of one's choice. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Coy Eaton for the excellent medical care and advice through the years. The family also wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Ernie Camp and to Dr. James Dunn; to friend and special caregiver, Rose Williams; to all the special caregivers at Dillon Pointe; and to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home for their unsurpassed care of our mother.
